Use this German made "Rumtopf" pot to preserve and ferment fruit,  The water seal allows you to control the process without the hassle of skimming the surface for mold therefore ensuring the quality and the taste of the final product. You can easily preserve pickles and enjoy the healthy benefits of lactic acid fermentation. This decorative earthenware pot can be used for pickling and fermenting vegetables or making sauerkraut.

Rumtopf is a tradition in many families which is renewed yearly. The classic recipe is that the Rumtopf is begun in the summer and opened close to Christmas, after it has had plenty of time to ripen.

Rumtopf is a process. Fruit is added as it becomes ripe from June until October, along with sugar and overproof rum (108 proof, 54% or higher) in order to preserve the fruit properly. It is then allowed to sit in a dark, cool spot such as a cellar, for six to nine weeks.
